Room capacities range from a 10-seat function room to the Pavilion, which can cater for 4 500 cocktail guests. There are 26 escalators in the two escalator wells of the centre, so delegates can enter and exit the building swiftly and efficiently. The security system is designed such that the building can be evacuated in a matter of minutes, should the alarm system go off. |

The Sandton Convention Centre is linked by skywalk to Sandton City and adjacent to Nelson Mandela Square, two of the most prominent and urbane shopping complexes in Africa. Accommodation
The Sandton Convention Centre is flanked by the InterContinental Sandton Sun and Towers, and the Sandton City Holiday Inn Garden Court hotels. These two hotels alone provide1000 guestrooms on the very doorstep of the Sandton Convention Centre. A further 15 hotels lie within relaxed and comfortable walking distance, and as many again lie within a 15 km radius, providing a full range of modern hotel facilities and accommodation.

The Sandton Convention Centre's proximity to hotels means a spectacular offering of 4300 rooms in different categories from 5-star to 2-star from hotels within a 5 km radius from the centre (several of which are within walking distance). Pre- and post-tours can be conveniently arranged from Johannesburg. The city is the hub of South African tourism and the focal point for all transport and tourism routes. Johannesburg International Airport serves all major regional destinations with scheduled flights. Three smaller airports, namely Lanseria, Grand Central and Rand Airport provide scheduled and chartered flights to the tourist and nature conservation areas throughout Southern Africa. There are also many reliable scheduled coach services that use Johannesburg as their central departure and return point.
This twelve-storey structure is designed and built to provide convention, exhibition and special event space over four main levels. It combines spectacular double and triple-volume use of interior space in its main and public areas, with smaller and more intimate break-away meeting rooms and galleries on its mezzanine levels. Its extensive glass exterior creates an open, inviting façade from which delegates can see and be seen, especially when traveling on the 26 escalators in their two escalator wells. The main foyers and several of the meeting rooms enjoy excellent natural daylight, and the building has been designed to accommodate and provide access for disabled visitors.
You'll find venues and facilities from which to mount the most elaborate audio-visual productions, or deliver highly motivating presentations to small, select audiences. Through a network of well-established partnerships such as LP Unlimited Productions, Siemens and Isikhanyane Cleaning but to name a few, the Sandton Convention Centre can provide all the support services necessary for events of the highest calibre and quality. Adaptability, technology and the range of facilities make the Sandton Convention Centre by far the most versatile, accommodating and sophisticated venue that South Africa has to offer, matched by few others in the world today.
The major arenas within this centre include the sophisticated ambience of the magnificent triple-volume Ballroom attributed partly to its vast, uninterrupted space and immense hand-woven wall coverings. This main banquet hall is suitable for grand occasions such as a formal dinner for up to 1900 guests, or a conference in schoolroom setup for 1100 delegates. The Bill Gallagher Room next to The Ballroom accommodates 500 guests for cocktails, 250 diners at a banquet, or 240 people in "schoolroom" seating. The several board rooms adjacent to The Ballroom and The Bill Gallagher Room can be arranged to accommodate differing numbers of guests (from as few as10, to as many as180). The settings can be as traditional and business-like, or as informal, as you care to make them. Two floors above The Ballroom, committee rooms can be set up in various configurations for meetings large or small. If seating for up to 4500 guests at a spectacular concert, live theatre production, product launch or sports event is what you need, then look no further.
From impressive, exotic banquets to light refreshments and snacks, the Sandton Convention Centre can cater for all culinary tastes and needs. A complete range of dishes and menus is available. Meals can be served to up to 2 000 guests in as little as 12 minutes - from the six serving stations surrounding the Ballroom.
