KWAZULU NATAL CONFERENCES, DURBAN CONFERENCE VENUE, ICC DURBAN

Durban is perfectly poised along the east coast of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal and his home to the captivating and sought-after Durban International Convention Centre . This province is the exotic kingdom of the Zulu nation ... a natural paradise featuring two world heritage sites... the majestic Drakensberg mountains and the St Lucia wetlands. Amongst the energetic metropolis the ICC Durban is a functional space in an artistic setting.

Centrally located and just a 20 minute drive from the airport, ICC Durban is moments away from hotels and beaches. Palm trees fashion an alluring avenue while at the entrance to the centre a trio of baobabs, Africa's tree giants, tender a regal salutation The building is fully air-conditioned and can accommodate 5,000 delegates. The ICC has been voted Africa's Leading Conference Centre for five consecutive years by World Travel Awards

Durban - Africa's leading conference destination - is a vibrant conurbation where a mélange of local cultures - African, Asian and European - is echoed in a montage of architectural designs, a melting pot of traditions and colourful cuisine. Its privileged location on the Eastern coastline makes it South Africa's only destination offering temperate winters and sultry summers -320 sunny days a year. It is an evident choice for conference planners, tourists and sports enthusiasts, since this is the city that sizzles and where the sun never sets.
Durban is the country's only city with its own City Metro Police in addition to the national police force. Security is enhanced by sophisticated technology, including surveillance cameras for incident-free events. A sophisticated road network serves Durban and transport is fast and reliable.

The ICC Durban is a purpose-built, fully air-conditioned centre with three convention halls that are interlinked but separate. Moveable walls allow for a number of different venue configurations. Alternatively the halls can be opened up to form one large venue with seating for 5000 delegates or 7000m squared of column free floor space. Together with its sister venue, the Durban Exhibition Centre, the ICC can double its capacity to accommodate 10 000 conference delegates. The centres can function independently or as two halves of one whole. This is achieved by closing Walnut Road, a brick-paved concourse between the two centres, to provide easy access for delegates.

All public areas and the immediate environs of ICC are WiFi zones. Visitors with laptop computers and PDA's can surf the Internet in a secure wireless environment whilst taking a break at the coffee shop, enjoying refreshments in the outdoor courtyards or meeting with clients and colleagues in the concourse or foyer.

Accommodation

Quality accommodation is available throughout the city and surrounding areas. From luxurious five-star establishments to comfortable guest houses and affordable self-catering apartments, a wide variety is available to suit personal preference and pocket.
