At the heart of the rebirth of the once crumbling railway town of Alicedale is a unique leisure and conference experience, Bushman Sands. The 4-star Bushman Sands Hotel is an enchanting mélange of rich heritage and contemporary comfort. Situated in the Bushman's River Canyon in the Eastern Cape, Alicedale is approximately 50 kilometres from Grahamstown and 100 kilometers from Port Elizabeth.
The Bushman Sands Hotel encompasses an array of facilities such as, 39 bedrooms, scenic pool, restaurant, private dining room, bar, library, Spa and Wellness Centre , Game Reserve, Golf pro-shop, 18 hole Golf Course, Conference Centre, adventure activities and many options available to make your holiday, event or wedding unforgettable.
Original railway houses form the cornerstones of what are now three rows of en suite accommodation. The décor throughout echoes the legacy of the Khoi San and Alicedale's railway history. The terraced rooms combine the architectural style of the original buildings with modern four-star finishes, offering a choice of junior suites with king beds and luxury and standard rooms with twin beds. Junior suites and luxury rooms each have a private veranda with breathtaking views of the fairways, the Bushman's River and the magnificent hills beyond. Standard rooms also with private veranda overlook landscaped indigenous gardens, the sparkling swimming pool, main hotel building and the final green of the golf course.

The 100 seater Bunkers Restaurant, with its pallid, creamy coloured Beech wood furniture and soft finishes in earthy terracotta and gold tones exudes an aura of unadulterated bliss. Cuisine is traditionally South African with nuances of Xhosa, English and Cape Malay. Bountiful Breakfasts, a la carte lunches and evening dinners are served here. A splendid selection of wines is available to compliment your meal, while an after-dinner cigar and superior single malt can be enjoyed in the library.
The Spa at Bushman Sands offers rejuvenating and detoxifying treatments that invigorate the body and soul. The 3 treatment rooms - each with its own shower and air-conditioning - are located in the Leisure Centre and along with a small but fully equipped gymnasium offer guests the ideal opportunity to truly relax and be pampered. The Hydro-Therapy area includes a 4-seater Jacuzzi, chill pool, and steam room where highly skilled therapists will tailor make your treatment
Conferencing:
The original 1901 railway station in Alicedale has been converted into the Bushman Sands Conference Centre. Bushman Sands offers five possible conference venues accommodating between 12 and 90 delegates. Four of the five conference venues are situated across the road, a mere 2 minute walk from the hotel in what was the original Alicedale Station Building.
There is one large meeting room, a break away room and a boardroom. All venues are air-conditioned and allow for various seating configurations. Standard equipment is available at no extra charge. Further necessary audio-visual equipment can be arranged for you at additional charges. The conference centre is situated approximately 80 metres from the hotel and can be rented exclusively for groups.
Bushman Sands offers many opportunities from team building experiences to theme dinners to make your event distinctive. Bush Braais, local African theatre, treasure hunts, adventure activities - are but a few of the options on offer. And of course there are the added incentives like the Golf Course and The Spa & Wellness Centre, not to mention almost 4000 hectares of game viewing terrain or boat cruises on the New Year's Dam to make an event at Bushman Sands memorable.
